How to Obtain Services at UConn Stamford

Students are encouraged to self-identify to the Disability Services Coordinator on the Stamford Campus. Students should read the Disability Services Student Handbook and download a copy of the intake form.  Students interested in receiving services should complete the form and return it to the Disability Office. Please note that while some university resources are different to that at Storrs, all students receive the same level of accommodations, according to their needs and documentation.

Once a student has self-identified, a meeting will be arranged to review appropriate medical documentation from a qualified clinician and to discuss individual needs and concerns.

Students should print out a copy of the Documentation Guidelines to hand to their health care professional so that their letters meet the University of Connecticut requirements. While there is no deadline as to when this should be done, services take time to arrange. Thus, it is strongly suggested that students make requests before a semester starts or within the first two weeks of class. Some services, such as the coordination of sign language interpreters and requests for books on tape, require several weeks to arrange. Therefore notification prior to the start of the semester is essential and in the best interest of the student to ensure optimal service provision.
